In between canoeing and dinner, we had a few minutes to try our hand at archery!

Canoe ride
After lunch everyone in our group headed over the lake for a canoe. A bride and groom were getting photos done and didn't want us in the background so we played a paddle game for a few minutes and then headed out. The lake was very low so you had to pole rather than paddle in a few places. On the way back to the dock we had a race, and Ian and I won by a half length.
Trail ride
Darcy and Ali took the bigger kids on a trail ride. It was also Ali's birthday, so we had some cupcakes ready for her as well...
Arena Ride
The younger kids started with an arena ride. We started by getting to know how to approach and walk around the horse, then brushed them, and then headed off down the hill to the arena. There, the kids got to walk their horse through some obstacles, and then each got a chance to do a short trot. Then they walked over the ridge and back to the stables... Katy's face was all smiles the whole time!

Back to school!
Another summer is behind us and the kids are headed back to school. This is Sam's second year at Shuswap Middle School, in grade 7. Ian, Katy and Max are in grades 2, 3 and 5 at Bastion with Mr. Styles, Mr. Caner and Madame DuClos. For our first day, Sam rode his bike with me, and then I rode back to meet up with Darcy and the other kids on their bikes. It is crazy to us how many people drive to school when they live so close!

Almost walking
Yesterday Ian took to pushing around a shopping cart, and stood for 10 seconds! Seriously - can he be any cuter?
