The Calkins kids had a great meet this past weekend. Katy got her first aggregate award, and a 1st place at that! She won two races, and came second in two as well. Ian and Sam both picked up bronze aggregates. Max swam personal bests, but his group is really competitive this year so he didn't make the podium this time.

Lily's Birthday
The whole family gathered in Golden after our swim meet for Lily's birthday. Ian and Lynne went back home, but the rest of us stayed on for a couple of days. Lily's gift was a bit of a scavenger hunt, and various actions had to be taken to move on, including some cartwheels from Darcy! No camping trip is complete without a marshmallow roast!

Golden Swim Meet
This weekend was the Golden swim meet. After a week of work hard (challenge week) the kids may have been a bit tired, but still managed a good meet! This was our first full meet of the year so it was a good start. We stayed on in Golden until Tuesday and did a bunch of fun mounting biking.

More lightning
The first night in Golden before the swim meet we got a nice light show. It started off in the distance, moved in close and then dumped rain on us.

Lake swim for Challenge Week
The swim club has challenge week this week, and included a movie, a pancake breakfast, a hike to the Enderby cliffs and the ever popular lake swim. The kids had a blast, and swam ever shorter distances based on age (Sam's group was first with three laps around the buoy line).

Traverse
Today we (Darcy, me, Claire & Eric) cycled the Larch Hills Traverse, from LH to Sicamous. It is about 35km, complete with mosquitos. We also ran into a bear and two cubs!
