"Sammy Misses Daddy"

Sam said the cutest thing to his mother today. On the ride back from Heritage Park, after riding the trains, etc. he said "Sammy misses Daddy" from the back seat. He repeated it after Darcy asked what he said, then he said "Mommy misses Daddy". Darcy agreed and then asked him if Max missed his Daddy too. Sammy replied: "Nope. Too little."

Three sisters unite

Amazingly, the three Wickett sisters managed to be in the same city at the same time! We had all 5 Wickett grandkids together at once. I've been posting lots of Max and Sam, but here are a few of the other kids:

"Sammy Rides Train!"

The Wicketts discovered a little gem near Armstrong this trip - a miniature railroad. It is on the side of the highway, in the backyard of one of the friendliest couples you'll meet. This is purely a hobby for them, and there is just a donation to help fund it. The train, pictured below with Sam, goes around twice and passes through a tunnel, over a trestle, and by a grain elevator. Sam loved it!

They also have a larger replica of Thomas, which Sam is shown in below.

One of my favourite parts of travelling to Salmon Arm at the end of the summer is the corn. Sammy appears to agree... Here he is digging in during dinner tonight. He also ate a full corn of cob while I was shucking them, before they were cooked!

Lindsay also stopped by to say hi and see the boys. Here is Max being held by Lindsay:

Sam turns two!

Sammy has officially turned two! He had a good time over at Grace and Mike's in their multiple pools. His Grandma and Grandpa Wickett, Nana, Martha, David and Westlee were also all present. Sam was distracted after opening one of his presents as it was shaped like a train, but when he opened his helmet he put it on. After a few seconds he realized what it was for and starting saying 'Sammy ride bike'. He hasn't stopped riding it since. This morning, he even wore his helmet to get syrup for his mother's birthday. Here are a few photos:

Congratulations Lee-Ann & Scott!

Lee-Ann and Scott tied the knot yesterday, and a good time was had by all. I did the photos, but will refrain from posting any of the wedding itself until the bride and groom get a chance to see them. Meanwhile, here is a picture of my lovely wife (and emcee).

We've left the Island...

Salt Spring Island is now behind us. I have moved on to Alabama, and Darcy, Sam and Max remain in Victoria. I'm already looking forward to getting back home! Here is a picture from last night on Salt Spring, around sunset:

Sammy and Max are cute!

These guys are cute! Sam was playing yesterday with his Grandpa, and I got a few shots in... Sam was throwing one or two balls up a hill right beside our cottage. They usually rolled back down to him and he would throw them up again. When he was tired of that, he would run up the hill, then count 1-2-3 and run back down. He can run down surprisingly quickly!
Jan-Louise and John came over today, and Barb came over yesterday. We all had a nice dinner this evening. Darcy and I took Sam for a canoe after dinner, then followed up with a swim across the lake once Sam was asleep.

Max has been in good spirits the last couple of days, and never fails to suprise us with another smile. He is waking up a lot right now, so we are kind of tired, but his smiles make up for it all. Today we went into the Salt Spring Market, and Max wore his tie-dye shirt, but it was so cold here he needed a sweater so noone got to see it :(

Max goes on his first Canoe ride

We made it down to Victoria on Monday. Our car ride went pretty quick, but the loading onto the ferry was problematic. Darcy had Max wrapped in her new sling, and he decided it was time to pee. It leaked out of his diaper so Darcy 'noticed'. While we were getting him fixed up, we discovered he had also pooped, and it was also on Darcy. That was when the line for the ferry started moving! So we had Max, naked, on top of Darcy, who couldn't wait to change her clothes driving onto the ferry. Of course they decided that our stoller was too tall, and had us sit out of the boarding traffic until they had loaded the entire upper deck. We had to wait to finish the diaper for almost 10 minutes.

We made it over to Salt Spring Island and have been enjoying the various cabin things to do. We've been canoeing, swimming, hot tubbing, grocery shopping and have played dozens of different sports with Sam.

Today, Lee-Ann, Scott and William come over to the Island, so we took them for a canoe ride. Max came along, and was super cute in his little life jacket!

Nana turns ninety-three

Yesterday we had a fun day in and around Salmon Arm. Darcy, Lynne and Sam did some pre-wedding shopping, Brad got a haircut, and then we went out to DeMille's to see the animals and get some ice cream in the afternoon.

On our way... 1st Stop Salmon Arm

Well, we are on our way for our first family vacation as a foursome (five including Lucy). It started off pretty rough when Lucy vomitted up three times in the house just before we left. When we opened the sliding door at breakfast, a bunch more slid out onto the pavement. Yuck!

We were a little late for breakfast, not only becuase of Lucy, but also because of the 20 cows that were walking across the highway near Canmore. Sam enjoyed the show!

After that it was pretty good. Max had a little trouble settling down, but overall was pretty good. Sammy was a charmer all day long. We met up with Dawn, Ryan, Andrew and Daniel for breakfast and we all stopped for lunch East of Revelstoke. Here is Sam with a mountain scene in the background...
