Block bike party

We headed back to Salmon Arm today and ended up making it to town in time to catch some of our friends' block party for kids on bikes.  They live in a cul-de-sac so it was nice and quiet and perfect for so many kids to cruise around.  Ian kept up, and hit the ramp on his run bike!  Katy tied a few balloons onto her handlebar and they came in handy as she fell once, and ran into a tree - both times scaring the crap out of me until I confirmed it was the balloon popping, not her skull hitting the tree or cement!  Maybe there is a market for kids bikes to have air bags?

Joint birthday

Daniel and Florence share a birthday, and it was nice to make it to town to join in on the party!

Calgary for the weekend

I rolled into Calgary at 9 am from Toronto, after taking almost a day to get back from Philadelphia due to weather issues.  Katy was super cute in her suit, and Florence and Daniel seemed happy to celebrate their joint birthday!

Backstage at Calgary Transit

Matt found out about and secured 9 passes for the Calgary Transit backstage event this weekend.  We took the older kids down and they loved driving the train through the car wash and seeing inside the repair and maintenance facility at Anderson Station.  Calgary Transit really did a good job, with a guided tour and experts at each station in the facility where we could learn about each are and ask questions.

Fun in the morning

Each morning I look after getting Katy and Ian ready for the day while Darcy takes the two older boys to school.  Some days it is a bit of a battle getting breakfast into them and them into their clothes.  Other days we have time for some fun.  Today was one of those days where we have some extra time to play, and Ian and I played catch while Katy ran around and hid in the clothes hamper.  She was saying things like "Hurry up Ian, we don't have much time.  Only until midnight!"
