Weekend in Portland
Darcy and Grandma & Grandpa C did all the work and drove down to Portland on Thursday to visit Sherrie and John. I took the easy route and flew down on Friday. The weather was a bit grey, but we had time to do some fun things, including swimming, Safari Sam's (mini golf, bouncy castle, and play structure) plus some shopping. We got Sam and Max a waterproof camera, which Max is using here. The only trick is keeping it charged! Here are the three kids in their new fleece jackets:

Ian after his bath
Who could resist getting yet another photo of those cute blue eyes! He is one happy guy most of the time...

Craft area updated
I didn't know how far Darcy was taking it when she arrived home with boxes from Michael's with some pegboard in it, but I think you'll agree that it looks nice and clean now - with key stuff hidden from prying fingers (Daniel and Max like to get pins out to open the bathroom door when they lock it)... Here is a non-distorted view (but not the whole area) for those unaccustomed to the fish eye look:

Scarred for life
Darcy is officially scarred for life ! She heard a little too much laughing downstairs and came down to find the door to the bathroom wide open. With Henry over, we usually make a point of closing it as he has been known to play a little too close to the toilet. When came in both Henry and Katy were scooping yellow water out of the toilet and drinking it out of their cupped hands !!! Disgusting! Even worse, they'd managed to get it all over the wall and floor around as well...

Scott and Tamara come to town
Despite living only a short hour apart, we've never quite seemed to hook up with Scott and Tamara. This weekend they came up to Calgary to see the Canucks/Calgary game for Scott's birthday. They stayed over with us last night, and it was nice to meet Tamara and catch up with Scott. This morning we ate some waffles and then Scott and I picked up Daniel and Andrew and hit the rink for some hockey. It was lots of fun, and the temperature was finally above zero for a change. The only person in danger of a chilly reception at the rink was Scott, decked out in a Canuck jersey in Flames country!
Star of the week
Sam was the star of the week, so it involved a few activities like a movie, letter from Grandma, poster and a visit from Dad for snack time. I brought the camera, but they had an early snack so they could enjoy the weather. That was more fun, but meant I didn't get pictures of the class. I did get a shot of Sam and his backpack... Plus, here is a picture of the family that Sam and Max did. I like there are three kids crossed out, before they remembered we had four!

Too many boys ?
Apparently Katy doesn't have enough female influence in her life - after watching her brothers on a daily basis she thinks you pee in the toilet out your belly button ! It cracks me up every time.
We're home!

Lily
While Ali and Matt took the boys skating today, Lily stayed at the house with me and Katy. I had a few minutes to get some photos:

North Pole, Alaska
Well, well, well. What a cute little town I find myself in this week. A little ways out of Fairbanks is a town called 'North Pole'. It is all about Christmas, all year long - even the McDonalds has a candy cane striped pole under their sign. Ice sculptures abound and street are named after all the usual Christmas themes. Like the real North Pole, it is was a cool -32C this morning when I arrived. It warmed up to a balmy -14C by late afternoon...
I could have stayed in Fairbanks, but who could resist staying at the Hotel North Pole. It is new, and best of all - they have freshly baked cookies.

Ian back home
I'm happy to report that Ian (and Darcy) is back home. The antibiotics have run their course and he is doing fine. It is a bit weird - on the one hand it seemed fairly routine, on the other hand they did keep him in the hospital for 5 days. We're glad they are home! Darcy says that there is nothing like sitting in a hospital room for 5 days to make all the routine in your life suddenly seem interesting and fun!
