Fun Day at Larch Hills

Today was the last day of Jackrabbits, and they had a 'Fun Day' planned.  There were a number of stations including: biathlon (bean bag toss in place of shooting), marshmallow roast, scavenger hunt, jumping, relays and so on.  It was fun!

Life in Lego

After seeing the Lego movie with the older four boys last night, I set myself the challenge today of creating a comic cartoon out of Lego for the weekend.  Of course, it requires building some lego models as well :)  May need to click to see it full size...

Family Day at Stake Lake [video]

We had a nice day outdoors yesterday on a day trip to Stake Lake, the Nordic ski area near Kamloops.  We met the Wortons there and skied over to the terrain park, and then eventually completed the lap around the lake.  Sam was doing 180's off the jumps, while Ian trooped along on his mini skis.  Max and Katy had fun too, and we ended up at a Chinese buffet on Tranquille Road in Kamloops...

The rest of our weekend started with moving Nana out of the condo, and finally getting the last of our stuff from our shed at our old house.  In turn, that meant quite a bit of unpacking and shuffling things in and around the garage.  All in all a nice weekend with the family.  Sam says it was the best weekend ever, as they went to the EnergyPlex in Kelowna on Friday, went skiing on Saturday, went to two birthdays on Sunday (including both Sam and max seeing the new Lego movie) followed by Grandpa Calkins coming for an afternoon and then the day at Stake Lake...  It is turning into the best week ever, with skating during school today as well!

Midget Championship

I took Sam to a lesson and Max to play around up at Larch Hills.  Jackrabbits was cancelled this week for the Midget Championship.  It was just as well - it was too cold to spend too much time skiing today!

A little bit older...

I don't usually miss my own birthday, but after being in Washington this week for work I ended up with a party on Saturday.  Good friends, family, and chocolate cake - what more do you need?

Ponies

We put up a new light and the kids got into the styrofoam packaging and had a millions little white balls in their hair.  For fun, Darcy used the vacuum to clean them out of Ian's hair and then all the kids wanted a turn.  From there, Sam and Katy went into the bathroom with the vacuum and then came out with ponytails made by sucking her hair straight out with the vacuum :)

Blue skies for skiing

We thought Jackrabbits was going to be cancelled today, but lo and behold it went from -18C overnight to more like -10C by 10am.  When we got up to Larch Hills we were treated to some nice blue skies, though the clouds rolled in after that...
