Crazy weather

This morning we had Chad and Stephanie and Elizabeth over for brunch. Ali and Matt supplied the cinnamon buns (homemade) while we supplied the venue. It was a nice time, and took up until naptime. With Max sleeping Sam and I ran some errands - but not before I took a few shots outside...Next up after nap was dinner over at Dawn and Ryan's. Check out the weather - nice sunny day for a bike ride, right? Here is Sam ripping up the sidewalk... After dinner we started to think the weather was turning for the worse. Boy were we right. Here is Darcy, ready to have our next baby:

Boys jumping

Seems that boys like to jump off things. There was constant rearranging as Sam jumped off three pillows high, Rogan two, and Max one...
Rogan - this move will come in handy if he ever becomes a rock star...

Max takes a turn:

Looking cute in the tub, playing with the taps...

And... no baby yet :) We are scheduled for a section on May 4th, if it comes to that. We're due tomorrow, so they are letting us try to go quite a few days past.

Daniel is 2...

Last night we had dinner, swimming and cake over at the Ross's for Daniel's 2nd birthday. Daniel was in good spirits. We left Sam there for a sleepover as well. Max was in bed by 9:30, but still up at 6:45 this morning :(
Daniel liked his cake!...and his presents.

Sam learns to ride his bike!

Sam learned to ride without training wheels today. Two weeks ago we purchased a 12" bike with training wheels for him, and at first he was gung ho about taking off the training wheels, but quickly wanted them back on again. This morning he asked for me to take off the training wheels. He tried to ride a couple of times and then wanted them back on. I suggested we take off the pedals instead so he could scoot around and learn to balance first. He was interested in that. We put the pedals on and off a few times as he played around with it. By mid afternoon he was getting his feet on the pedals, balancing and getting in a turn or two of the pedals. He was showing everyone on the deck and pretty excited about it.

We took a break and then after Max woke up we all decided to go down to a school (with a rubbery surface) and tool around the playground. Much to our surprise Sam was pretty quickly riding around the whole playground without really stopping. He then wanted to ride around the block and across the field, which he did. Anyways, take a look at the video - it speaks for itself!

Don't forget to vote!

Note that I've got a poll on the right - vote on whether you think we'll have a boy or a girl! Feel free to leave your vote in the comments too...

I should point out that the doctor said to give it another week to our due date. So uncertainty is still king... and no baby yet :)

Hanging out in the yard

Once the kids woke up, we hung out in the back yard. I had gone for a haircut (the only remaining piece of house keeping holding back the baby!) and when I got out of the car I heard a hissssss. Flat tire :( I decided to swap over to the summer tires as it was that time anyways and then I did some cleanup in the yard. Matt watched over the kids and then I joined in. Max and Lily took turns at the leaf pile:
Then they all joined in! Anyone else think that Sam looks like he has a peg leg with his pant rolled up like that on one side?
Sam and Rogan really love riding bikes:

Sam still loves the trike too!
So does his uncle, apparently!

Supertrain 09

This weekend was Supertrain 2009 in Calgary! Model railroaders flocked to the Calgary soccer centre today to see what was new and exciting in model railroading - and for a ride on the 'speedy train'. Matt and I took the four kids to see what was up. After standing in line for 30 minutes (!) we got inside and it was a pretty good show. Lots of trains were at the kids level so we cruised from display to display...
Sam with his ticket...

The Lego train display was pretty cool, with replicas of buildings in Calgary including this fire station and hotel.

The inevitable conclusion of a day at a train show...

Kids

Here is a shot of the gang after a hard day's play. Sam got a new bike today, so we went over to a school and rode around for a while. Rogan is getting peddaling, and enjoying the trike. Max like to push the scooter bike, or sit on the little trike and push on the ground with his legs. Lily is also getting into the bike thing...

Max turns two!

Max is now officially two years old! We had a full house yesterday, with three of four grandparents (no Grandpa Ian), Claire, Molly and Nolan, Nana and Papa Karns, the Rosses (including Yolanda!). Lots of wieners and burgers were had by all. Max was in pretty good spirits so it went pretty well!

The aunts and uncles went in on an ATB - Max is in love... Unfortunately so is everyone else :-P
Max enjoyed the full spectrum of balloons!

Yikes that hurts!

Well March was quite a month! I started out in Japan, while Darcy and the boys were battling infection in Salmon Arm. Then that nicely rolled into an ear infection for Max. Then Lee-Ann, William and Jack arrived and we were all hit with a nice Gasto. Finally, to top it all off, on the 31st Sam fell on his friend Andrew's bike and smacked his face on the handlebar! There was much blood and a race to the hospital. Turns out, 2 days later, that the tooth is already moving back into place and will likely end up better than the already dead one beside it. Hooray for baby teeth!
