Sleigh ride with Martha

Once again, Martha invited along on the annual Observer Sleigh Ride.  Our kids had a blast, as usual, and filled up on hot dog, juice and chips.  Ian seemed nervous about horses, and spent the day telling us that he was not going to pet them...

Sports

 Like his big brothers, Ian has a desire to wear helmets around!  Yesterday was one of our last Ringette games, and the boys were playing hockey inside before their game.  I suggested that rather than keep hurting each other, they don their gear and play with some pads on.  It made getting ready for the real game quick :)  I love how the gloves on Ian reach all the way to the elbow pads...

Sam reading

It is great to see Sam reading these days.  He has had the ability to read for some time, but resisted sitting down and actually reading.  He has really been taking off with it lately!

Dad plus 5

Lindsay was in town today, so Darcy, Lindsay and their mums hit the town while I stayed home and played with five kids.  There was a lot of tinker toy and hockey action to be had!

Ready to roll

Ian looks super cute as he tries out the older boys' skateboard at the skate park today.  The three youngest had to get their shots today, and Max and Katy were worried about it.  Max wanted me to tell the story of how I had to get a second shot in the butt after they messed up my dose when I was twelve.  My story about having to get two shots instead of one kind of fell flat when we found out he needed three shots today :(  Ian, on the other hand, took it like a champ - he sang the abc's, flexed his muscles, and counted to ten.  He did seem like he might lose it when they got out the 2nd needle, but he managed to keep his cool.  He was way more upset when the big boys wanted their board back at the park!

Sweetheart 2013 Tournament [Video]

 
Max and Sam had a blast at the ringette tournament in Kelowna this weekend. They played 3 games, both scored goals and swam and ate with their friends. Check out this video of the kids on the team (click here for full HD version).

 The little ones are having fun skiing and playing in the snow as well!

Skating

We took a break from skiing and Calla and I took a few of the kids down to the skating rink for some hockey.  Katy and Henry were extra cute in net, stomping their feet.  Max, Daniel and Sam played hockey with some little kids' nets they had.

The sun came out for a bit yesterday, which made things extra fun, and got everyone some extra high jumps!
