Paola comes to Calgary

Paola arrived on Saturday night, and is staying for a week. Here she is having fun with Sam in our backyard:

Well, the five cousins finally got together this weekend, as Claire, Eric and Molly came to Calgary. We had a chance to get a few photos with the new babies, and basically just sort of lazed around in the back yard to get away from the Sun.

Admittedly, this isn't a picture of Sam stuffing his face with an entire waffle this morning, but it could be Max's reaction to it!

From crib to bed...

Here is a photo of Sam after his first night in his 'big bed'. Last night was a two hour nightmare as he wouldn't go to sleep. He cried and cried and kept asking to go in his bed. Finally I wondered what I was waiting for and put him in his bed. He fell right asleep - and didn't wake up until 7:00. He was in good spirits, too, considering he wasn't asleep until 9:15 pm.

Heads up!

Max is lifting up his head these days, when he is on his belly. It is a major step up from the complaining he used to do!

Now that Lily is home we also have Max sleeping in the crib as well. He seems to do just fine in the bigger bed - but we're keeping him swaddled for now.

Lily is doing well too, and gets more beautiful every day. I hope to have some pictures of Molly this weekend. Claire and Eric being in Edmonton makes it tricky to get photos!

Rogan seems to be taking to his new sister just fine, and is enjoying having his Daddy home for the week:

Sammy Swings at Riley Park

Matt, Trevor and I took Sammy and Rogan to the Riley waterpark today. For some reason, Sam wasn't that interested in the water, but he did enjoy the swings at the park. Here is a photo of Sam against the sky...

Grandparents flock to Calgary

With the birth of a new grandchild on the Wickett side and the Calkins grandparents returning from Denmark, they all descended on Calgary to enjoy the growing brood. Luckily we have side by side houses to entertain! The joined backyards are coming in handy, as is the shared deck and barbeque. Matt cooked up some tasty steaks that tasted suprisingly like chicken - Ian is taking notes...

Lily Allison Karns

At 7:05 this morning Allie and Matt had their baby! She is a baby girl, weighs 8lbs, and was 19.5" (3615g and 49.5cm). All are doing well.

All the best to Allie and Matt, Lily, and her older brother Rogan!

First Posting

Here I go - my first post on this blog. I figured it would be a good way to keep the family in touch, without having to send and download tons of pictures. It also seems to be a good way to write a little about the photos, instead of just sending pictures with no stories behind them.

We'll see how it goes!

In this light, here is a photo of my son Sam at the Calgary Stampede. It is his second time, and we went on the 'family day' where you get in free if you arrive before 9:00am. We did, but his mother and aunt parked the care and just made the deadline. I grabbed this photo of Sam decked out in jeans before they arrived.

Sam loved the mini donuts - the people in front of us ordered them without sugar, which we thought would be pretty rare. Sam and Rogan definitely liked them with sugar!
